Meet Dr. Ashley Junghans-Rutelonis, PhD, LP, PMH-C, R-PLC

AJR & Co's Dr. Ashley Junghans-Rutelonis, PhD, LP, PMH-C, R-PLC  is a Mayo Clinic College of Medicine trained clinical psychologist and certified coach. She is authorized to practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) as granted by the PSYPACT Commission and a credentialed Health Service Psychologist (credentialed by the National Register of Health Service Psychologists). For over a decade, she has been partnering with women to solidify values-based living and explore next steps in the lives they choose to lead.

Dr. Ashley has received specialized training in health psychology, earning her Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International, her certificate as a Reproductive Mental Health Practitioner through the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and historically serving as an Assistant Professor in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. She has also done extensive work surrounding the Menopause Transition (peri-menopause and post-menopause). She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and the biopsychosocial model for incorporating biological, psychological, and social health factors into treatment, executive coaching, and assessment.

She also has extensive training in assessing and supporting neurodiversity presentations in women. Dr. Junghans-Rutelonis is a professional member of Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHAAD) and frequent contributor to webinars and panel discussions about neurodiversity in females and in the workplace.

In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Ashley provides executive coaching to professionals in high-stress occupations including those in law firms, medicine, banking, and C-Suite roles. Her  approach integrates psychological expertise with practical, individualized strategies to help professionals better understand how they work, navigate barriers, and lead more effectively. She focuses on building sustainable systems and leadership practices that fit the individual, their role, and the real-world demands of their work. She is credentialed as a RETAIN Parental Leave Coach (R-PLC) by the Center for Parental Leave Leadership and partners with parents and leadership to help foster a smooth parental leave process.

When What Worked Isn't Working Anymore.

High-achieving women need a strong support system, as they identify what they value and the goals that move them towards a value-driven life.

Women have trainers and memberships to remote work-out classes. They have meal delivery subscriptions that personalize healthy food they make in their homes.

We want women to put their mental health priorities into the mix with their trainers, meal delivery services, and subscription boxes. (I actually want them to place mental health above subscription boxes!)

As a psychologist and coach, Dr. Ashley works with high-performing women who are feeling stuck.

  • Perhaps you are pregnant, perimenopausal, or going through other hormonal shifts and you are not doing okay.
  • Perhaps you are not neuro-typical and you are trying to determine what is going on, what support you need, what your strengths are, and the healthiest work environment for you.
  • Perhaps you feel you are constantly running on a treadmill and you are juggling so many roles (mother, partner, daughter, friend, boss) that it is hard to keep up.
  • Perhaps you are facing anxiety barriers and ongoing depression that is making it hard to fully engage even when you want to, or significant sleep difficulties that make you feel cognitively groggy.
  • Perhaps you want to learn new strategies to focus on time management and efficiency at work so you can spend more time engaged with your partner, your family, or your own interests.
  • Perhaps you feel totally disconnected to what you actually want and need...so disconnected you need help identifying what you really value.
  • Perhaps social anxiety, self-doubt, or broken institutional structures are making work performance challenging.
  • Perhaps life has been snowballing and you need assistance in slowing it down.

We meet with women who are feeling stuck, whether it is in a job they dislike, one they love that simply isn’t working for them anymore, or one that is creating work/life integration difficulties they want to navigate. For other women, they are feeling stuck in a relationship, an ill-fitting environment, or in a pattern of behavior that is no longer serving them. Women's mental health is health. It valuable to make it a priority, create space to reinvigorate yourself, and move towards your strength.

What kind of therapy services do we provide?

Many women reach out with general needs while others have specifics they wants to discuss including

What kind of assessment services do we provide?

Dr. Ashley provides assessments specifically tailored to the needs of women. Mental heath diagnoses, research, and clinical practice focused on girls and women has often been missed or delayed. But... we know more and more about how neurodiversity and mental health concerns present in women. So, it is important to be evaluated by someone who is informed about nuanced presentations. Not everyone can be an expert in everything but this is one of Dr. Ashley's areas of passion. If you are new to neurodiversity assessment or feel you have not been listened to in the past, she might be a great fit!

Dr. Ashley provides assessments for women ages 22-65+. In certain situations, she is able to assess girls younger than 22. Please reach out for a consultation.

She can assess any of the following questions for adults:

  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).  You can read more about ADHD in our resources section.
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD),
  • Clarification about AuDHD (ASD and ADHD) and other common, co-occurring mental health conditions (e.g., anxiety, depression),
  • Mental health diagnosis clarification (e.g., anxiety versus depression versus PTSD),
  • Cognitive ability and memory,
  • Learning disorders;
  • Better understanding cognitive profile (memory, learning, executive functioning) and applying to current career demands.
